Bohemianism

March 29th 2015 by

The bohemian aesthetic is not only about flared jeans, flower crowns and fringed jackets. The Spring/Summer 2015 runways have shown us the more romantic side of the bohemian flair, taking form in elegant and long flowy dresses. Just look at the designs of Chloé, the long dresses were insane. Clare Waight Keller, the creative director of Chloé, managed to re-create the perfect hippie-boho chic style that perfectly suited Jane Birkin, without overdoing it. The collection was clean and elegant, and the focus was more on the maxi proportions and fabrics, than embroideries and patterns. A thumbs to Miss Waight Keller.

Etro: when it comes to showing off its hippie side, never gets it wrong. Whether it’s silk chiffon gowns, embellished maxi dresses, beaded belts and fringed bags, the overall is always breath-taking. I would steal the looks from head-to-toe.

Alberta Ferretti proposed a tribe of bohemian nymphs in sheer nude coloured gowns with petal alliqué. White lace dresses weren’t missing neither, and often they were combined with suede waistcoats with whip stitching remind us of Woodstock. The result is beautiful, and this is the whole point no? Making women feel beautiful. How would I wear this collection? Well, basically everywhere. Either to a garden party, to a wedding, to a romantic dinner.

Florals? For spring? Ground-breaking. To avoid this, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli, avoided showing their bohemian vibe through seen and re-seen maxi silk floral dresses, and used as patterns star-fish and shells. More than the dresses, the amazing braided hair and scenic ad campaign, where the elements that mostly struck me. What do you think?

Pucci brought the bleached trend to a hot new level. Who wouldn’t look like this for a romantic dinner on the beach?
