After watching Saint Laurent AW14 runway, I knew one thing: I needed a cape. The classic elegance of a cape and the easiness of wearing it, made me realize that this cover-up is the perfect item to have in a wardrobe. Over a pair of jeans and a turtle neck sweater, over a night out look, or over a long dress for an important Gala, this piece will always be your solution. I have always been a fan of capes, but haven’t wore one for years, probably because it was fashionably wrong to wear one an year ago. I have always been into boho capes that I would mostly wear during spring. Finally, I found one that would allow me to bring out my hippie soul also during winter.
It took me a while to search for a proper cape, because there are many around but none convinced me. However, I must say there is quite a good selection on Asos. Then I stopped and thought: where is that one place that has everything at an affordable price? Zara, of course. The solution to every girls wardrobe crisis. I entered, asked for a cape, and dah dah, there it was. This cape has a very similar cut to the one I saw on the Internet by YSL, but it only comes black. I think that Mr. Ortega nailed it once again, because after my purchase I have seen almost half of London’s female population wearing it.
The outfit of today, is the perfect combination for all your upcoming parties. It’s simple, plain and easy. You can pump it up by adding accessorizes, whether you go for bracelet cuffs, earrings or necklaces. You can also add a touch of mysteriousness by ultimately adding a felt hat. I have however glammed it down, by keeping it simply with a pair of lace-up shoes, but you can definitely try it with a pair of pumps.
