For this Valentino Resort 2015 collection, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli were inspired by graphic and multicolored designs that created the boldest looks since their direction in 2009. Subsequently their entrance in the company, the runways have transformed. Their style has been described to be aristocratic, fresh and young. Often their collections utilized animal prints to represent their wilder side, but for this Resort ’15 collection, the two designers have been inspired by Frida Kahlo. They depicted parrots and monkeys on their fabrics, as painted by the famous feminist painter.
The designs also brought to life a psychedelic print which was used by Valentino in 1973. Bold colours, contrasting stripes, zigzag fabrics and pixelated stripes adorn the new Resort ’15 collection, and prepare us for a vibrant and exciting spring season. I have been invited to the presentation to the collection next week. So I hope I will be able to discuss with the designers more about this collection. Stay tuned to have further details next week!
